Dhamma (or Asalha) Day

Dhamma (or Asalha) Day, held once a year, is one of Theravada Buddhism's most important festivals. It commemorates the "turning of the wheel of the Dharma". The Buddha delivered his first sermon at Sarnath Deer Park to the group of five monks with whom he had trained in the forest for many years prior to attaining Nibbana. Upon hearing this discourse, one of the monks, Venerable Kondañña) gained his first glimpse of Nibbana.

Join us on this special and significant day. You may wish to sponsor offering of candles to the 28 Buddhas, flowers and donation of books related to Buddhism to the Library on that day.
