The Sangha offers spiritual advice, support, guidance and encourage us to practice the Dhamma (teachings of the Buddha). They give us the training opportunities and correct our wrong views, led us from the dark to the light. We seek those who have benefited from the teachings, to continue support the Sangha so that more beings are able to enjoy the benefits from these teachings.
Dana in pali, it means generosity or giving. Giving can take many forms and one may ask, what are the rewards of giving? As quoted in the sutta:
"These are the five rewards of generosity: One is dear and appealing to people at large, one is admired by good people, one's good name is spread about, one does not stray from the rightful duties of the householder, and with the break-up of the body at death, one reappears in a good destination, in the heavenly worlds." — AN V.35
