Other Forms of Donations

The Buddhist Library and the registered society that runs it, the Buddhist Research Society, is funded entirely by donations from our Members and well-wishers. The Buddhist Research Society is registered as a society under the Societies Act (1970 Ed.Cap. 262)  and Charities Act 1982.

The annual budget for the Buddhist Library is about S$1 million. The principle sources of funds include funds raised during the annual Funfair, donations made at Pujas and festival occasions , subscriptions from about 1,000 Members of the Buddhist Library, and other donations from well-wishers, supporters and devotees.

In accordance with our mission of ‘Sharing the Dhamma’, the Library is open to the general public. Members are permitted to borrow our books. Our collection of books on Buddhism, especially the books in English, is possibly one of the best available in Singapore.

A wide range of Dhamma and diploma courses as well as Sunday Dhamma classes and activities for Children are conducted to make available the teachings of the Buddha. In 2007, a Masters of Arts in Pali and Buddhist Studies will be offered in collaboration with the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

The Library and its Dhamma activities are therefore dependent on the generous donations of devotees and well-wishers, as well as on Volunteers, who offer their time and effort.
